Jean, while I understand your frustration, I strongly disagree with the view that the European project has failed. The EU has been a force for peace and unity in Europe since its creation, helping to avoid conflicts between member states and providing a platform for cooperation. Yes, there are challenges, such as the rise of nationalism and the refugee crisis, but these problems are complex and not unique to the EU.

In fact, the EU offers solutions that individual countries may struggle to implement alone. The refugee crisis, for instance, is a global issue that needs collective efforts, and the EU has been working on policies to share the responsibility of asylum seekers among its members. It’s not perfect, but abandoning the EU won’t make these problems disappear—working together will.

As a young European, I value the freedom of movement and the opportunities the EU provides for study and work abroad. This has broadened my horizons and helped me to appreciate different cultures. Leaving the EU, as Britain has done, risks limiting such opportunities and isolating nations at a time when global cooperation is more important than ever.

Instead of giving up, I believe we should focus on reforming the EU to make it more effective in addressing the modern challenges we face, rather than walking away from what remains a vital institution for the future of Europe.
